Dear All,
This is a friendly reminder that we will meet tomorrow at 3:00 in Burnett Hall 305. Moreover, we will have problem presentations. As a reminder the assignments are:
Danny + Cleve: 2
Zach + Kesavan : 6
Taylor: 1
Sabrina + Sara: 4 (there is a typo in the sheet it should be "char(K)\neq 2" instead "of char(K) does not divide n")
Nawaj : 5
If you have time to type up your solution in the overleaf: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.overleaf.com/8628482744fsyckxxtgwqk… , that would …
[View More]be amazing. However, it is not required.

Dear All,
The plan for next week's installment of CAABS is to do the following: for the list of exercises from 09/10/2024 (which can be found here: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://caabsatunl.github.io/CAABS/CAABS_Fall_2… ). I will assign a problem or two to a person or two who regularly show up (including myself). With the problem you have been assigned, you will present a solution to it next week during the course of the CAABS meeting time.

You are encouraged to work through the other problems (even if you aren't assigned any). You all are also encouraged to discuss these problems with each other outside the meeting times and even with me (after all, I am just beginning to learn this stuff as well).
My plans for future installments of CAABS are like so: Every other CAABS meeting we will have a reading assignment in the text that will be assigned. During that meeting we will discuss things that were unclear to us, questions we might have, ect..., and we will be given a new sheet of exercises. After this meeting, I will assign problems from the worksheet to be presented in the next CAABS meeting (not everyone may be assigned a problem, and I will keep track of this so that it is fair). We will then repeat this process.
I understand that not all problems are created equally, and issues may arise. So, a few things regarding this:
1.
If you are unable to solve the problem you are assigned, please talk to your peers (this includes me) and see if you can brainstorm some solutions.
2.
If after item 1. you are still not able to come up with a solution, that is O.K.! In this case, you will be asked to explain the progress you have made during your time to present and any ideas you may or may not have to tackle the problem.
3.
If you are assigned a problem, but for whatever reason, will not be able to attend CAABS for your presentation, please let me know as soon as possible, so that I can restructure things if needed.
If you have questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me!

Dear all,
This is a friendly reminder that we will meet today from 3:00-4:00 in Burnett 205.
It was brought to my attention that many people who might be interested in attending have Topology until 3:15 on Tuesdays; if you are in topology this semester and would like to attend CAABS as well, please feel free to come after class. Likely, we will be finishing up discussions and beginning an exercise sheet in groups around the time topology finishes.
If you were not able to finish last week or …
[View More]this week's reading assignment, that is okay-- I encourage you to still come! We will be working in groups, so it will still be a fun opportunity to learn.
Best,
Taylor

Dear all,
This is a friendly reminder that the first CAABS meeting is today and will be held in Burnett 205 from 3:00-4:00.
If you have the text on a tablet, have printed out a copy of section 1.1,1.2,1.3, or even have a physical copy of the text in hand, encourage you to bring it to the meeting.
I also want to take a moment to mention next week's reading assignment: Section 1.4,1.5, and 1.6. You can find the assignments here: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://caabsatunl.github.io/CAABS/…

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share with you a website (that is currently under construction) for CAABS: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://caabsatunl.github.io/CAABS/__;!!PvXuogZ… Here I am planning to post reading assignments for meetings as well as a possible collaborative overleaf document that we will fill with solutions to exercises as the semester runs its course. While reading assignments will go up on the website, I will always send them through the list, as well.
Furthermore, for those …
[View More]of you who want to get started on reading some invariant theory, we will hit the ground running Tuesday September 3rd and discuss sections 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 from the aforementioned text Classical Invariant Theory a Primer by Kraft and Procesi. You'll find many exercises in these sections (and in the book at large), which you are strongly encouraged to try out; we will work on some of these exercises in groups when we meet, as well.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Shah or me.
Best,
Taylor
