Hi all,
I wanted to share an e-mail we received today from Dr. Goodburn about some of the success benchmarking that is happening at the university level. As you will see, campus is seeing some historic highs when it comes to credit hours attempted, course withdrawals, student places on academic warning and dismissal. I fully believe there is a strong correlation between the support we provide students across our campus, and specifically in the college, and the outcomes that are being measured. Thanks for all the work you do to support student success. I encourage you all to look at the data below so you can see how our campus leadership is measuring student academic performance.
Have a great afternoon all.

Subject: Continued Improvements in Undergraduates' Academic Performance!
Dear Colleagues,
I write to share good news regarding the continued academic success of our undergraduates based on their spring 2025 performance metrics (shout out to Paul Breitkreutz in OUR for providing this data!).
Thanks to efforts by faculty, academic advisors, success coaches, academic navigators, and program coordinators to prioritize degree planning and proactive and tailored outreach, UNL students' attempted and earned credit hours continued to rise! This spring our students reached a historical high of 14.111 average attempted hours and earned 13.197 credit hours. This data suggests that more of our students are "on-track" for four-year degree completion (which over 90% of last year's first-year students identified as a goal in their NSE inventory).
And with the exception of the spring 2020 Covid-impacted semester, the percentage of students' course withdrawals, the percentage of students placed on academic warning, and the percentage of those who were academically dismissed were also all at historical lows in spring 2025. All in all, our students are rocking it. Thanks for your leadership in prioritizing the importance of planning and academic engagement with your team members.
Hope New Student Enrollment is going well for you and that you have an opportunity to take a breather before classes begin again in two months!
Best wishes,
Amy

Hi all,
I'm going to lead a small group of up to 4 people this summer reading a book that was suggested to me for professional development. We've ordered 4 copies and I hope they will be here in the coming week or so. The book is College Success for Students of Color: A Culturally Empowered, Assets-Based Approach. More details are available here<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.tcpress.com/college-success-for-stu… .>.
The audience for the book is different than what I would maybe normally use for a reading group in that it is written with students as the intended audience. That is, though, what I like about this book and the value I think it is for us to read it. My hope is that as we would read through it, it helps us think about the ways in which we are communicating and using wording about student success that are both asset-based and approaches that resonate with students themselves. I believe this also really aligns with our Ecology of Validation approach that we're embedding at UNL. It seems to be a fairly easy read, so my hope is that the group I'll convene this summer would read the book throughout the summer and we'll have 3 meetings to discuss what we've read. If it works well, I'll continue an additional group in the fall.
Let me know if you are interested and I'll let you know when the books get in.
Thanks.

Hi all,
I hope the beginning of NSE is going well for everyone! We didn't have any pressing topics for next week's Student Success Team Meeting (6/13) so it will be cancelled.
I am also letting you know that we will be having an end of the year celebration at HopCat on June 19 at 5 PM. Be on the lookout for an invite with more details from Christina!

Hi all,
I visited with our leadership team and we wanted to shift a bit of our approach to planning socials for this upcoming year. If you would be interested in serving on a social committee with a few other people to plan the social events for the academic year for our student success team, we invite you to nominate yourself. There will be a small budget to work with (approximately $600-$700) for the year. There are a few regular social events we want to keep, including:
* End of the semester lunch (December and May)
