Hi all
We're working on some shared e-mail issues, so please for the time being either hold off on sending e-mails, or send anything directly to Rebecca. I'll update you when we know the shared drive e-mail is working again.

Hi all,
We've received a few tips from folks late last week from those who have gone through the migration process. I hope you find these helpful. Additionally, if you have any difficulties on Tuesday, we'll have tech support available in 107 who can help troubleshoot. Additionally, we received one other update as well on Friday. We are all uses of RIVA which is what syncs our calendars with SSH. As such, the note below does apply to us.
One thing I am not sure we communicated clearly about the RIVA moves is that we are moving, not copying the Inbox and OneDrive (that is what the other tool does). So once we move folks, they will not have access back to the old because it was moved.
We are migrating inboxes, OneDrives, SharePoint, and Teams. However, there are a lot of other one-off apps such as Power BI, Bookings, Planner, and Forms that are not going to migrate. If any of the advisors are using those, they will want to export the data from them (if the app allows) before they are migrated Monday night. This article provides a summary of what I just outlined. However, the access back part is not true for your group: https://nusupport.nebraska.edu/TDClient/33/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=413
I do have some availability Monday if you have any last-minute questions, but we'll try to make sure everything is active and shared with you within our internal teams on Tuesday.
Thanks.

June mentioned you might find this handy, too.

Here are the things I wish I knew well before our migration date. Hopefully, it saves a bit of pain for you and yours. Feel free to share.
Things to do for migration prep
Screenshots to take
* Shared inboxes
* Planner items. They do not migrate off your personal Planner boards, only ones tied to a Team.
* Pinned OneDrive shortcuts
* Shared calendars
* Teams (to note ones you are not an owner of and might need to reach out for a re-add)
Things to do or keep in mind
* Pull your Shared File report: Directions here<https://nusupport.nebraska.edu/TDClient/33/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=433 > (only does OneDrive)
* OneNote in Teams will disappear.
* OneNote for Windows 10 will not migrate. You will need to request temporary access<https://nusupport.nebraska.edu/TDClient/33/Portal/KB/ArticleDet.aspx?ID=501 > to your old unl.edu account to retrieve data from the notebook post-migration. THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE THREE TIMES without reaching out to ITS, so be strategic about it.
* You can move the data into a Word document and download any PDFs into a folder to migrate.
* Loop workspaces also will not migrate.
* You are going to lose Outlook templates and Quick Actions. Save them into a Word doc or make notes of what to readd later.
* Anything loaded to send from your outbox later will be wiped out. Prepare accordingly.
* Have a copy of the IT spreadsheet if possible so you know what data you are a member/owner on.
* You're going to lose your Teams chat. Is there anything important in there?
Post-migration
* Just use your NUID number to log into your machine on startup.
* Teams and Outlook required a software update via ITS for me before I could get logged in.
* Shared inboxes will now be unl.address(a)nebraska.edu<mailto:unl.address@nebraska.edu> when you add them back. E.g. casdeansoffice(a)unl.edu<mailto:casdeansoffice@unl.edu> turned into unl.casdeansoffice(a)nebraska.edu<mailto:unl.casdeansoffice@nebraska.edu>
* Zoom needs to be reconnected to your Outlook calendar.
* Every file you pinned, bookmarked, or made a shortcut for is broken.
* Some files don't make the migration. Give your SharePoint folders a look over to see if anything is amiss. Check saved dates - we've noticed files reverting to versions that are months old and losing hours of work. These need to be reported to ITS to coordinate with Microsoft 365 to retrieve. Or, save a copy of important things to your computer as backup.
* Anyone who is on the other side of migration will not be able to Teams chat with you.
* If you are a member of a Team that has not migrated, it will not be accessible unless you switch into the University of Nebraska side of Teams by clicking your initials in the top right corner and selecting the UN option below.
[cid:image001.png@01DBB063.2AE62BA0]
Switch back by selecting the same option again.
* Check membership/ownership against the IT spreadsheet. Request missing items.
* Mailman still works right now, but there is a possibility addresses will not forward in December when the migration process is complete and old data is deleted out of the system, so unl.edu emails might not work off mailman lists. We are unclear on this but prepared for the worst.
* My plan is to have ITS pull spreadsheets of all my mailman list memberships then replace the UNL with NEBRASKA in excel and do a mass unsubscribe and mass subscribe to fix each list.
* After the ITS folks leave, the best way to get help is to drop into the virtual Technical Assistance Room<https://its.nebraska.edu/tacroom >, available Tues. - Fri. mornings from 8-10:30am CST.
HI all,
Here is the guidance we received this morning regarding referrals to SSD. In my review, I believe that this is the approach we have been using when documenting these referrals in the past. That said, please note specifically that we should not be noting any specific diagnoses a student has disclosed to us or that they are indeed registered with SSD. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I visited with Deb Huryta, the ADA Compliance Officer. We discussed students' rights to privacy and the purpose of SSH. We agreed that there's benefit in having advisors, navigators, career coaches, CAST coaches, etc. know if a student they're supporting has already been referred to SSD. A referral doesn't assume a student's association with our department, rather it is merely sharing campus resources.
She was comfortable with the referral notes being shared in SSH provided:
* employees have gone through FERPA training
* the referral email does not include the student's disability (if disclosed)
If a referred student is eligible for academic accommodations and they decide to register with SSD, the student's registration with SSD should not be posted in SSH where multiple parties have access to the student's information.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Good afternoon all,
I wanted to share some exciting news in the midst of priority enrollment. We were notified today that Kristin was selected as this year’s Dr. Charles Riedesel Outstanding Academic Advising Award recipient. Kristin will be formally recognized at The Laurels event in the fall, which is the university’s annual awards reception.
Two quotes from the nomination packet that stood out to the committee reflecting Kristin’s excellence in advising read as follows:
“Faculty members consistently report that it is not unusual for them to make a mental note to approach Kristin for insight on a specific student situation, only to have Kristin approach them first to check =in about the exact same situation…Faculty can list many students who have passed crucial courses, or made graduation minimum thresholds, because of active partnership with Kristin – her hard work truly transforms lives, semester by semester.”
“The [student] feedback consistently highlighted these attributes: caring, kind, attentive, patient, empathetic, and understanding. I see these in her, I hear from others in their experiences, and she articulates these values in her work with students. It’s truly who she is and how she operates.”
You can read more about this award at the following link: https://executivevc.unl.edu/faculty/evaluation-recognition/awards/advising
Please join me in congratulating Kristin on this award!

Subject: FGN Coffee & Connections: April 9
Good morning all,
The next FGN Coffee & Connections event is next week on Wednesday, April 9 from 2-4 pm behind Dunkin’ in Love Library. Students are invited to attend to meet and mingle with fellow first-gen students and connect with faculty and staff who are first-gen supporters. This is a low-stakes, no-pressure event. Students can stay for as long (or short) as they want, stop by with questions, or come for nothing but vibes. Members of the First Gen Advisory board will be around for questions and conversations!
We’ll be offering *free* coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and donuts, and making buttons again!
UESS units: A digital sign for this event is attached – it can start running today and continue through next Wednesday (non-UESS units are invited to run the sign too, if relevant for your area).
This event is designed for first-gen students, but we know it can be a little intimidating for students to head into a new space all on their own. We’d love to have you join us, especially if you’re bringing along a few first-gen friends 😊
You can check out the event posting here<https://events.unl.edu/firstgennebraska/2025/04/09/187115/>.
Have a great week!
Lydia
