Hi Jude,
Our team discussed in our comms meeting today and if this person provides a certain expertise you wouldn’t get otherwise, we’re willing to make an exception and allow a pre-recorded talk and complimentary virtual registration instead of the in-person registration. We would ask that our team coordinate a time with them to record the talk to ensure the audio and video is of good quality. I’ll leave it up to you and Jess whether to go this route or opt to find someone else to particulate. Hope that helps and also that you’re enjoying your vacation!

Thank you Frances,
I’ll reach out to Jess on Monday as soon as I’m back. Agree about pre-recorded sessions being less engaging, too.

Hi Jude,
Unfortunately, we aren’t set up for live virtual participants at the conference. We could maybe include a pre-recorded presentation although I usually lean against this since they’re typically less engaging.
Let’s chat during or after our conference program meeting tomorrow.
Thanks,
Frances Hayes

Hi Jess,
Good to hear from you - the news is terrible but I’m on leave this week in Italy, which is a wonderful distraction!
The conference is in-person only I’m pretty sure, but I’ll check with Frances (copied here) to see if any exceptions can be made. Circumstances are after all far from normal.
I’ll also come back to you on the indigenous water rights issue, I agree it would be very valuable.

Hi Jude,
I hope all is going at least reasonable well with you? I had a lovely conversation with a couple of my panelists today and one of them is having trouble financing travel (FAO). I wanted to check if there is a hybrid option for having panelists join online?
I also wanted to touch base about the Indigenous connections you mentioned earlier in our conversations. It would be wonderful to engage with anyone who may be in a position to speak about water rights related to tenure and agriculture from an Indigenous perspective. I’m also working with Chloe from RRI to identify folks along this line.
Any thoughts or guidance you have would be very welcome! Thank you!
Warmest regards,
Jess
