Passing of Grace's brother

Hi all, It is with deep sadness that I must announce the passing of Joe Danao (Grace's brother) on August 12, 2024. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his Mom and brother. The FST Department sent a peace lily to Grace earlier this week to provide comfort and sympathy during these difficult times. Attached are Joe's obituary, a picture of a memorial display in Joe's honor, and information about a mass service that will be offered on Aug 20th. My name is Stuart Hoff, I am the manager of the IANR Federal Excess Property Program. We received an unused Beckman Coulter Boimek Sampler last year from The US Animal Research Center in Ames IA. The machine and a couple pallets of supplies were purchased in 2020 and never put into use. Picture of similar unit below, there are more parts to the one we have available. I received this unit in early 2023 through our FEPP under USDA. Agronomy was going to put it into service, but turns out they cannot now utilize it. Still has not been put into service. I have a table also for it to sit on, if need be. This unit is $400,000 new , plus looks like we received about $20,000 of supplies to go with it. Understand, this unit is free to utilize, when we are done with it someday, (even 20years from now) we return it to USDA-NIFA. IF any of your depts can utilize this machine, Please get a hold of me. Currently it is located at Agronomy, and needs to be moved. I sure would like to find it a home, and not have to return it to the Feds. Thank you for your time. This upgrade will improve performance and update any security vulnerabilities. During the upgrade there will be a brief network outage that should last around 15 minutes. Her research focuses on colonization resistance mechanisms to Clostridioides difficile. C. difficile is the number one cause of hospital associated infections in the U.S. due to its ability to colonize and persist in the colons of patients on antibiotics. During her research, she evaluated potential probiotics on their ability to reduce and compete with C. difficile for nutrient space. FIC 105 Walk-in Cooler Clean Out

Hi All, I have started cleaning out the Walk-In Refrigerator in FIC 105. There is a lot of mold. Items will be placed on wire carts in the Walk-In so the shelving and floor can be cleaned. All moldy boxes/containers need to be discarded. If you have items in the Walk-In please stop by to discard any items no longer needed (moldy, expired...) and wipe down, LABEL any items that you need to keep.
