Shining a Spotlight on a Dairy Career

|
On Monday, Oct. 27, students met with Scott Tomes, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Bongards, to listen to the story of his career in the dairy products industry and how he leads his company’s sales and marketing
strategies. Bongards is a farmer-owned co-op and cheese supplier based in Minnesota.
The event was part of the American Dairy Products Institute (ADPI) Career Spotlight Program. The ADPI hosts events to ‘future-proof’ the dairy industry by promoting careers in the dairy industry and by connecting employees
to the dairy industry for decades to come.

ADPI Scholarships Available
The ADPI is now accepting applications for its Scholarship Program. Applicants must be enrolled in either a two- or four-year academic program and pursing a course of study that will lead to a Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy Science,
Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Food Processing/Manufacturing or similar programs related to the dairy ingredients industry. More

Dr. Martini to Discuss the State of Food Science
|
|
|
UNL Food Science & Technology Department Head Silvana Martini will lead a conversation about the opportunities with the Food Science and Technology industry. It will be from 5:30 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, Nov. 13 at Glacier
Till in Ashland.
Students are encouraged to attend the meeting as it is an excellent way to start building a professional network or perhaps find the next internship or job. A heavy hors d’oeuvres buffet will be served.
To

Join CASNR Career Coaches, ISSO for Job Strategies for International Students

CASNR and ISSO are hosting a workshop to help international students understand how to navigate the U.S. job market, identify potential opportunities, and communicate confidently with employers. It will be from 3 pm to 4 pm
on Friday, Nov. 21.
Students will also learn about work authorization options, networking strategies, and how to build a personalized job search plan. Whether you’re just beginning to explore opportunities or preparing for graduation, this session
will equip you with practical tools and insights for success. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Understand the structure and expectations of the U.S. job market, including timelines, application materials, and typical hiring processes.

Identify job search strategies tailored to international students, including networking, career fairs, and online tools.

Recognize immigration-related considerations, such as work authorization options (CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, H-1B).

Application Open for Larrick Travel Funds
|

The
Larrick Research Travel Funds Program, granted on a competitive basis, provides funding to graduate students presenting their research and/or scholarly activity
at a professional meeting or a conference. The maximum award is $400.
All currently registered graduate students, whose advisor or co-advisor has an IANR research appointment, including Science Literacy, are eligible to apply.

Ladder University Internship Winter Cohort Deadline is Nov. 16
|
|
|
Ladder Internships is
a selective start-up internship program for college students. In the program, students work 1-1 with top start-ups on real-world projects. Companies in the program cover industries like AI & Machine Learning, healthcare, finance, and biotech. The company
founders come from places like the Y Combinator, Goldman Sachs, Google, Microsoft, and McKinsey & Company.
The next application deadline for the Winter cohort is November 16th. Students can apply
