Class of 2029:
* All of you have been invited to the UNL Canvas PPVM-Student Resources course and PPVM-Training course. Canvas is UNL's Learning Management System. Canvas is how you will access your course materials and manage assignments. The PPVM administrative office uses Canvas to distribute student resources, information, and training. Please log into your UNL email account and accept your invitation to these courses. If you didn't receive the invitation, log into UNL Canvas with your UNL Username (your NU ID number or UNL email address). If you have trouble logging into UNL Canvas, contact the UNL HuskerTech Help Center at support@nebraska.edumailto:support@nebraska.edu or 402-472-3970. If you need your NU ID number, please contact me. * I have your ISU ID numbers. Contact me when you are ready for your number. After you have your number, you will need to register your ISU Net-ID at https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.it.iastate.edu/resources/newstudent*... . Send me your ISU Net-ID by July 1, 2025. Reminder that everyone must register their ISU Net-ID and set up their ISU email account. The PPVM office will use your ISU email address to communicate with you. * Your Fall 2025 class schedule is available in UNL Canvas (PPVM-Student Resources - Class of 2029 Information - Class Schedule). Please use UNL MyRED to enroll in the core courses before August. https://registrar.unl.edu/student/registration/tutorials/ You will use your NU ID number and password that you set up through the TrueYou system https://trueyou.nebraska.edu/ . * You will be assigned your group (A or B) this summer. * Information about textbooks will be available through MyRED this summer. A supplies list will be posted to UNL Canvas this summer. * The list of electives available to you for the Fall 2025 semester is posted in UNL Canvas (PPVM-Student Resources - Electives - Fall 2025 Electives). As part of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine's curriculum, you must take at least 4 elective credits during your VM1-3 years. Most students find it very easy to meet this requirement-even if they decide not to take any electives during their first semester. The elective credits can be taken through UNL, ISU or a combination of both. https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://vetmed.iastate.edu/students/curriculum__... The decision to take an elective during your first semester is entirely up to you. Many students decide to not take an elective during their first semester to see how they handle their core courses and veterinary school. Others decide to enroll in an elective during their first semester. There is no additional tuition charge for electives. There may be additional student fees. * The UNL electives open to VM1s are VMED 501 Veterinary Medicine Terminology and VMED 596-003 Veterinary Practice Orientation. Both electives are asynchronous online courses. As soon as you are enrolled and the courses are published in UNL Canvas, you can begin the course(s). You must complete the entire elective course(s) by the end of the fall 2025 semester to receive credit. * If you are interested in tracking food animal or mixed animal, note that some ISU electives are prerequisites for required rotations/courses during your VM4 year. These ISU prerequisite electives are noted in the descriptions. (It's okay if you don't know your track now. These prerequisite electives will also be offered other semesters.) You will enroll yourself in ISU electives using ISU's Workday Student. Instructions on how to use ISU Workday Student in UNL Canvas (PPVM-Student Resources-PPVM Policies & Information-ISU CVM Resources-REGISTRATION New Workday). * If you currently have a student academic accommodation plan through an institution other than UNL, we encourage you to register with the UNL Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) as soon as possible. If you think you may want accommodations while a PPVM student, please contact the UNL SSD office to discuss available services and the registration process. When registration with SSD is complete, it is the student's responsibility to contact each instructor to discuss accommodations. Contact instructors as soon as possible to allow them time to meet with you to discuss accommodations you plan to use in their course. * Lastly, if you completed PPVM prerequisites during the spring 2025 semester, remember to have your official transcript(s) sent directly to the PPVM office by July 3, 2025. Electronic transcripts are preferred (ppvm@unl.edumailto:ppvm@unl.edu). If you are using a bachelor's degree to fulfill a prerequisite, your transcript must include your degree award date.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
