Please see message below from Tara Joyce, ISU Financial Aid Office. You can ignore the first two sentences of the last paragraph. First- and second-year PPVM students are billed and pay tuition from UNL. Visit the UNL Office of Student Accounts<https://studentaccounts.unl.edu/ > to learn more about how UNL invoices for tuition.
Reach out to Tara and the ISU Office of Student Financial Aid with questions about financial aid.

Greetings from Financial Aid!
You can disregard this email if you are not planning to use student loans during the Fall 2025 semester.
It is time to start making sure your Fall semester loan steps are squared away before classes start in August.
If you are a first-time Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan borrower as a veterinary medicine student, you must sign your Master Promissory Notehttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/studentaid.gov/mpn/__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!G7Hk4zz5StmCHFhYigyzWB87gZ8likSMvAZ2TBlyJXf9Y5KpydkQEjXyQdeXapKskhH_56hXGiL9kN7hXtA$ and complete entrance counselinghttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/studentaid.gov/entrance-counseling/__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!G7Hk4zz5StmCHFhYigyzWB87gZ8likSMvAZ2TBlyJXf9Y5KpydkQEjXyQdeXapKskhH_56hXGiL9U9_1MmM$. All students using the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan must take action to accept or decline the amount offered in Workday under My Financial Aid then Accept/Decline Awards.
To determine if you need to borrow an additional loan to cover your cost of attendance, please refer to your Estimated Financial Aid at the top of your financial aid offer in Workday. You can calculate how much more you can borrow in an additional loan by taking your Total Estimated Costs minus your Total Financial Aid. A positive difference is the maximum amount you can request in additional loan. Workday was unfortunately not able to automatically calculate this amount as eligibility on the financial aid offer, but you can still use an additional room so long as there is room in your cost of attendance to receive additional financial aid.
Your additional loan options are to apply for the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loanhttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/studentaid.gov/plus-app/__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!G7Hk4zz5StmCHFhYigyzWB87gZ8likSMvAZ2TBlyJXf9Y5KpydkQEjXyQdeXapKskhH_56hXGiL9BAW1yTg$ or a private education loanhttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/studentaid.gov/plus-app/__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!G7Hk4zz5StmCHFhYigyzWB87gZ8likSMvAZ2TBlyJXf9Y5KpydkQEjXyQdeXapKskhH_56hXGiL9BAW1yTg$. If you plan to use the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan, you must apply for the loan and indicate the amount you wish to borrow on the application. You have the option to indicate a specific dollar amount, undecided, or maximum. If you are unsure how much to borrow, you can indicate undecided then contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to confirm the amount you want to take in the loan. If you are a first-time Graduate PLUS Loan borrower, you must also complete a PLUS Loan Master Promissory Notehttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/studentaid.gov/mpn/__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!G7Hk4zz5StmCHFhYigyzWB87gZ8likSMvAZ2TBlyJXf9Y5KpydkQEjXyQdeXapKskhH_56hXGiL9kN7hXtA$ and PLUS Loan entrance counselinghttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/studentaid.gov/entrance-counseling/__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!G7Hk4zz5StmCHFhYigyzWB87gZ8likSMvAZ2TBlyJXf9Y5KpydkQEjXyQdeXapKskhH_56hXGiL9U9_1MmM$.
The Fall 2025 semester university bill at ISU is expected to be available around August 1st, and you will receive an email when your university bill is viewable in Workday. Questions about your university bill or payment options should be directed to the Accounts Receivable Office at ubill@iastate.edumailto:ubill@iastate.edu or 515-294-7388. We recommend completing all Federal student loan action steps by early August to ensure your financial aid disburses on time. If you have questions about using loans or your financial aid offer, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid at 515-294-2223 or vmfinancialaid@iastate.edumailto:vmfinancialaid@iastate.edu.
Thank you.
