Hi all,
We shared this information with faculty since there were some questions about social media during the morning session of the retreat. I though it would be a good idea to share it with everybody else so that you can tag us, invite friends to follow us, etc... Let's spread the word about the wonderful things that we do at FST!
Thanks,
Silvana

Subject: Re: Digital Ag Task Force Questionnaire READY to Share
Hello Leaders,
On behalf of the Digital Ag Task Force, we request that you please share the following survey with the members of your unit. The objective is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the great work happening across IANR on this diverse topic. The results will be used to organize engagement activities over the upcoming year.
Thank you,
Mark

The University of Nebraska Digital Agriculture Taskforce is conducting this survey to better understand digital agriculture activities across IANR. We aim to identify faculty, staff, and students engaged in teaching, research, extension, or innovation in this field. Your input will help us map existing expertise and collaborations, showcase success stories, and guide the creation of a coordinated Digital Agriculture Hub to strengthen connections, foster innovation, and expand impact across Nebraska and beyond.
If your work involves any aspect of digital agriculture, we encourage you to complete this survey. Areas of interest include:
* Remote sensing, sensor networks, and ag IoT
* On-farm experimentation, data-driven science, and modeling
* Technology adoption, digital marketplaces, and supply chains
* Nutrient management tools, mobile apps, GPS, yield mapping, and variable-rate systems
* Connectivity, decision-support platforms, and extension/outreach programs
* AI, automation, blockchain, virtual fencing, and cybersecurity for agriculture
*
Even if you're unsure whether your work fits these categories, please fill out the form - all contributions are valued.
Link to survey: https://go.unl.edu/digitalagsurvey
ATTENTION: You need to log in with UNL credentials to access the survey.
Please complete the survey by September 19

Subject: New Business Manager
Please share this announcement with your departments/teams. Thank you!
All -
I'm pleased to announce that Sarah Stehr has joined our team as our new Business Manager as of August 1. She brings extensive experience in budget and finance, and we're excited to have her on board! Sarah has been spending her first few weeks getting up to speed with the University and our systems.
As part of our recent reorganization, Sarah will lead the team providing invoicing and collections support for FARRP & FPC, as well as proposal submission and financial management support across all NIC units, plus BSE and DWFI. Her team includes Michelle Davis, Valerie Sutton, Ryan Baker, Matt Mueller, Holly Powell-Williams, and Shannon Stava.
Attached is a short bio to help you get to know Sarah a bit better. Please feel free to start including her in any emails or communications you would typically direct to your Business Manager.
As Sarah continues to learn the ropes, I'll be working closely with her to ensure we're addressing your needs. We appreciate your patience during this transition and thank you for your support. Please join me in welcoming Sarah to our team!!

Hi all,
I just want to thank all of you who showed up for the retreat last Friday. I know you are all busy so I appreciate you taking the time to spend time with us knowing more about the department, brainstorming about how we can improve, and thinking about what your message to our stakeholders is. I had a lot of fun interacting with all of you and I learned a lot of good stuff.
A special thanks to Susie that played a very important role in the organization of the retreat. And of course, thanks to Mo! He was a great moderator for the afternoon session.
We will summarize the activities of the afternoon, and we will share with you, hopefully in the September Faculty meeting and/or in our next newsletter so that everybody can see the results.
I hope you had fun too!
Thanks for all you do for the department! We have a great team and I am excited to see where the future takes us!

Hi all,
Many of you saw me walking around with Catelyn today. Catelyn Bridges is a new Assistant Professor with the BSE Department and has a 20% research appointment with FST. She will have some lab space in FIC 215 and I still need to assign her an office.
I just wanted to introduce her to all of you so that you can say hi if you see her around. She will be joining the retreat tomorrow.
Please help me welcome Catelyn to FST and to UNL!
