7/3/2025 will be a Declared Holiday (DECL) Please follow instructions below that apply to your situation: Steps to Enter DECL for Hourly Bi-weekly paid employees (must choose one option): 1. For DECL Eligible Employees not working on 07/03/2025: Enter 8.00 hours of DECL for 07/03/2025 on their ESS timecard or request the hours via ESS Leave. 2. For DECL Eligible Employees working on 07/03/2025 and choosing to have the DECL hours banked and used later: Enter 8.00 hours REG on 07/03/2025 on their ESS timecard. Department Time Coordinators and Supervisors will need to manually track the banked time. When the employee chooses to use the banked time, the employee will enter 8.00 hours of DECL for the day chosen on their ESS timecard or request the hours via ESS Leave. 3. For DECL Eligible Employees working on 07/03/2025 and choosing to have the DECL hours paid: Enter the hours worked on 07/03/2025 as REG on their ESS timecard. Then, enter 8.00 hours DECL on a non-scheduled workday (i.e. Sunday, 06/29/2025) on their ESS timecard or request the hours via ESS Leave. For essential non-temporary employees required to work on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025 will receive payment for the hours worked and can take Declared Leave (hour for hour) at a later time. Please note that if this option is chosen, departments must manually track and grant leave hour-for-hour for the employee. He gained two years of experience as a production supervisor in a Honduran palm oil refinery, aimed at extracting bioactive compounds from palm oil, sparking his interest in the direct impact of food components on human health. This experience led him to transition to academia, where he researched the health benefits of bioactive compounds derived from whole foods. His doctoral research evaluates the anti-hypertensive activity of egg white hydrolysate, the impact of its digestion-resistant protein on the gut microbiome, and its subsequent effects in hypertension. Hi all, Today somebody brought to my attention that food items prepared for instructional purposes disappeared from our classrooms several times during the Summer. In particular, food items were prepared for specific activities in room FIC 111 and FIC 107 and in less than 1 hour they disappeared... Please be aware that food items placed in labs and classrooms are not for everybody to grab. They are there to be used for specific purposes. Faculty, staff, and students spend a lot of time purchasing those items and count on them for the success of their activities, so when they prepare their materials (in this case food items), and suddenly they realize that they are all gone, this creates stress and a waste of time for them. So please, next time you see a food item in any of the labs or classrooms please refrain from grabbing them. Only food items placed in room FIC 235 are for people to grab. If we see that this behavior continues, we will have to place security cameras in all labs and classrooms. I hope we don't have to get to that point.
