“Database Development for Glycan Utilization and Anti-Prokaryotic Defense in Microbiomes”
Yuchen Yan is a PhD student in food science and technology with a specialization in bioinformatics. Her research combines large-scale microbial genomics and computational approaches to investigate how microbiomes contribute to human health. Her dissertation focuses on the development of two functional genomic databases: one for glycan utilization in the human gut microbiome and another for anti-prokaryotic immune systems in phages. Through functional annotation and profiling of key genomic features, her work provides foundational resources for understanding microbiome-mediated glycan metabolism and phage-host immune interactions.
